Dance History

Dance History Shannon Holtzapffel began his performing career at an early age in Brisbane, Queensland. He was cast in his first professional musical with GFO productions, 'The King and I', starring Hayley Mills, at just six years of age. Establishing himself as a young entertainer, Shannon continued his training in all facets of dance. His first television commercial came at the age of seven, and this early taste of professionalism helped him strive for success in the performing arts industry. Whilst continuing dance classes, he took up gymnastics to learn new skills and gain more strength, also achieving a high level of success as a gymnast, representing his State. Shannon was selected for the Queensland Ballet production of 'Sleeping Beauty' and the Australian Ballet season of 'Manon' and 'Don Quixote'. Television credits rolled in soon thereafter, the mini-series’ - 'The Wayne Manifesto' (ABC), 'Medivac' (Nine), and 'Fire II' (Seven). Shannon then successfully auditioned for the Queensland Lyric Operas’ 'Madame Butterfly' and later accepted a role for a season of 'Eugene Onegin'.

Shannon’s zeal for learning his craft, lead him to study under Robert Sturrock, Choreographer and dance instructor. It was there that Shannon was introduced into the professional dance world and began working in the many facets of the entertainment industry. After being offered a scholarship to the prestigious EDGE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER in Los Angeles, his passion for dance was broadened, and his career was taken to new heights. Shannon has appeared in many music videos, tours and television shows, and continues to strive to be one of the best in his field of work respectably.
